Wayland sent 56 students to audition for our Eastern District Senior Music Festival yesterday at Milton High School. The competition in the Eastern District is outrageously stiff. Every student who auditioned improved and took giant leaps in their personal musicianship.
I am thrilled to announce that 25 WHS musicians will be representing Wayland at the festival in January! Of those 25 members, 13 scored high enough in their sections to earn an All State recommendation (indicated by *). These students are now eligible to audition for MA All-State Music Festival. For a district our size, these results are remarkable.
Please join me in congratulating the 2018 Senior District Festival members!

The Fall 2017 College A Cappella Concert took place on December 2. We had a fantastic lineup of first-rate a cappella groups including the 2017 ICCA champion Nor’easters, UMass Sharp Attitude, and the Hamilton Buffers. In addition, Wayland High School’s own talented student a cappella groups, the Madrigals, the Muses, and the T-Tones performed to a nearly full house. As always, everyone enjoyed the complimentary refreshments at intermission.
All proceeds from the concert benefit the visual and performing arts at Wayland High School. Thank you to our dedicated audience members who help keep this special community fundraiser going!
Many thanks to the army of volunteers who worked at the show and to everyone who contributed dinner for the performers or a dessert or snack for the intermission buffet. Thanks also to the smaller, dedicated crew who worked in advance to organize everything, select groups to perform, sell tickets, and create publicity. If you are interested in joining this special group for future concerts, please contact us. Special thanks to Donelan’s Market and Russell’s Garden Center for selling tickets for us, and to the Wayland Town Crier for publishing articles about the concert.
