CAPA is happy to announce we are holding a fundraiser concert, bringing together local musical talent and featuring some of our own students. Come kick up your heels and help us start off the school year with some friends, fun, drinks, and listen to some great music too!
Welcome back! Join us for our first monthly meeting as we kick off 2018-19. Enjoy treats and conversation as we meet and discuss priorities for parent support., including special events, grants, and curriculum questions. Meeting is 60 minutes, and is to take place very second Tuesday of the month, October- May at 7:30pm.
The final CAPA meeting of the year will be on Thursday, May 24 at the home of Cindy Lewis, 171 Old Connecticut Path. We will hold elections for next year’s CAPA board and celebrate another successful year of supporting the arts at Wayland High School. Newcomers are welcome – this is a great time to join CAPA and explore volunteer opportunities for next year.
Fine Arts Night is coming up soon! Fine Arts students and families are invited to join the Fine Arts faculty and CAPA for a fun-filled night to recognize and celebrate our most accomplished students. The awards ceremony will take place on the Main Stage starting at 7:00. A party with ice cream sundaes and a photo booth will follow. Art projects will be on display throughout the evening, starting at 6:30pm.

Saturday, April 7, 7:30pm WHS Main Stage
We have plenty of tickets available for tonight’s Spring College A Cappella concert. Just show up at the high school after 6:30 and you can purchase them at the door. We take cash and checks.
This fun-filled musical event will be a delight for all ages, and raises needed funds for the fine arts programs at Wayland High School. Featured college groups include the Vassar Devils, Not Too Sharp from UNH, and Pitch, Please! from Northeastern. As always, Wayland’s own a cappella groups – Muses, T-Tones and Madrigals – will round out the program.
The evening will also feature the ever-popular free dessert and snack buffet at intermission.
Desserts Needed 5:00-7:30pm Drop-Off, WHS Commons
We are in need of desserts and snacks for the intermission buffet. Any donation would be greatly appreciated – cookies, breads, cupcakes, brownies, healthy snacks, etc. You may drop them off at the Wayland High School Commons between 5:00-7:30 pm tonight (Saturday, April 7).

Monday, February 12 at 7pm WHS Main Stage Suggested Donation $10 Adults, $5 Students and Seniors
The WHS Tri-M Music Honor Society will host a benefit concert on Feb. 12, 2018. The concert will feature Wayland resident professional musicians, some of whom are currently playing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, in addition to WHS musicians.
The society is raising money for the National Association for Music Education’s Give-a-Note Foundation. According to its website (https://www.giveanote.org/), the foundation strives to bring awareness to the importance of music education and to strengthen musical opportunities for all students, providing the resources necessary to help 20 million students through grants to new and existing school programs.
The concert will 7 p.m. in the WHS Auditorium. There is a suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. The snow date for the event is Feb. 13.
Wayland sent 56 students to audition for our Eastern District Senior Music Festival yesterday at Milton High School. The competition in the Eastern District is outrageously stiff. Every student who auditioned improved and took giant leaps in their personal musicianship.
I am thrilled to announce that 25 WHS musicians will be representing Wayland at the festival in January! Of those 25 members, 13 scored high enough in their sections to earn an All State recommendation (indicated by *). These students are now eligible to audition for MA All-State Music Festival. For a district our size, these results are remarkable.
Please join me in congratulating the 2018 Senior District Festival members!
