Bottom’s Dream – Saturday March 2

Saturday, March 2, 7pm
WHS Little Theater

Fans of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream should make sure not to miss the one and only evening performance of Wayland High School Theater Ensemble’s “Bottom’s Dream” this Saturday at 7pm in the ‘Little Theater’ at Wayland High School. “Bottom’s Dream” excludes the lovers from Shakespeare’s well-known comedy and focuses instead on the hilarious interactions between the “mechanicals” (Jonathan von Mering, Isaac Greenawalt, Melissa Smith, Liam Fay, and Jack Case) and the fairies (Jesse Vogel, Carly McKee, Tori Gitten, Julia Terranova, and Erika Moran).

Staged in contemporary costumes, with lots of movement and upbeat music, the production invites young and old audiences to experience Shakespeare… just a little differently. The production presents a play within a play within a play: Bottom the Weaver (von Mering) is eager to rehearse a play with his fellow tradesmen, but gets mysteriously “lost” in the forest and falls into the hands of fairy King Oberon (Vogel). Oberon employs Puck (Sohini Marjadi) to help him tease his Queen Titania (Carly McKee).

The 40-minute performance is free and open to the public.
