Welcome back! Join us for our first monthly meeting as we kick off 2018-19. Enjoy treats and conversation as we meet and discuss priorities for parent support., including special events, grants, and curriculum questions. Meeting is 60 minutes, and is to take place very second Tuesday of the month, October- May at 7:30pm.
CAPA, the Creative Arts Parent Association, will hold our first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 16 in the WHS library. We’ll be talking about our plans for the year and welcoming volunteers for open positions. We have many wonderful things planned for this year, including our signature events, the Fall and Spring A Cappella fundraising concerts. Watch this space for details, or sign up for our email list (look to the right) for monthly updates.
We always welcome new members and volunteers to work with CAPA. Does your child participate in band, orchestra, chorus, theater, dance, or visual arts at Wayland High School? Would you like to help promote the arts and fund special opportunities, classes, and supplies that aren’t covered by the school budget? If so, here are some ways you can participate:
Monday, May 19, 6:30-8:00m Home of Linda Smith, 171 Old Connecticut Path East
Join us as we enjoy snacks in an informal setting, vote on spring teacher grants, vote on next year’s budget, and welcome new and returning board members: Co-Presidents, Cindy Lewis and Kathryn Welter; Treasurer, Deborah Cohen; Secretary, Linda Smith; and Member-at-Large, Kirsten Robinson. We’ve changed the date so that parents can attend the band concert on May 13.
Please bring finger foods to share. Please contact us to let us know what you are bringing.
At 8:00pm, following our business meeting, CAPA parent, Dalyte Bernotas, will be available to showcase her CABI line of clothing. Stay to chat, look over the clothing, and enjoy snacks.
At the CAPA meeting on December 6, Principal Pat Tutwiler was the guest of honor, answering questions about the fine arts requirement at WHS. A particularly lively topic was the requirement for members of a cappella groups to simultaneously take a performing arts class.
